Meet Sylvia Norris, our Designer/Developer.

We sat down with our resident code wrangler, to learn more about her mastery and how she translates her natural creativity into beautifully designed and functional websites for our clients.

How long have you worked in this industry?

15 years

What are some of your responsibilities?

Officially? I write HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP; manage website content using WordPress; and layout websites with Divi builder. Unofficially—I draw illustrations for our internal documents.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Clock in—after that, it could be a wide range of things:

  • respond to emails
  • troubleshoot support tickets
  • build page designs for new website projects
  • write scripts to add new functionality to existing websites (things like adding a programmatically-generated customer notification that fires when someone purchases a specific type of product from a website)
  • research and provide estimates for adding new features to websites
  • mobile optimize page layouts for a new site

What made you choose this profession?

It’s fun! It’s like a puzzle game that’s constantly evolving with new challenges.

What’s your favorite part of what you do?

By far, my favorite part is saving the day with beautifully formatted, well-documented code.

What are your interests and hobbies outside of the office?

Singing, writing music, cross-stitching, water coloring and video gaming—in no particular order.

Would you rather be able to control electronics or non-human animals with your mind?

If I could control electronics with my mind, I could get all my work done in an hour, take a long lunch, a longer nap, go home early, and still be awesome at my job. There’s no down side to that scenario.
